Four Years on the Regulator's Side
From October 2016 to October 2020, Carlos served as an Institution Evaluator for the Commission for Independent Education (CIE) at the Florida Department of Education, covering private postsecondary institutions across South Florida.
- Evaluated institutions against Florida's licensure standards and authored the findings reported to the Commission.
- Conducted closure reviews, examining why schools closed.
- Sat in the room with accreditation teams during their on-site visits as the state's representative, providing state rules and information as needed. The institution being visited is not in that room.
